Best Practice shows Opticians in Ireland how to beat the credit crunch!

The Best Practice seminars hosted by the AOP and Myers La Roche are proving to be a huge success with delegates.

The Hilton Hotel in Templepatrick was the fourth venue in a series of 10 events which are offering Optometrists, Opticians and Practice owners large amounts of relevant commercial information to help them increase their practice turnover and survive the credit crunch!

Presenters on the day included Sama Hossain (AOP), John Whitewood from finance brokers exclusivebenefits, Patrick Myers (Myers La Roche) and Kevin Holdridge from website developers Kent House.

The event was a great opportunity for delegates to gather useful information about how they can make changes in their practice to increase their turnover by £100,000 in the next 12 months. The feedback from the event showed it had been a very worthwhile day for the delegates.

The modules that are covered at Best Practice events include:

• Setting the right prices in your practice to maximise your income.
• Practice insurance and the issues involved when your practice and equipment is underinsured.
• The finance options available when you are looking at buying a practice or new equipment.
• How to comply with your record keeping to avoid a GOC hearing.
• The importance of having a practice website and how to ensure you are getting a return from your investment.
• How to improve your recall system to increase response rates.
• Which methods of promotion are most effective in bringing in new patients.
• Issues to address when you are considering selling your practice.

Representatives from CIBA Vision, the event sponsor were on hand to talk to the delegates and hand out useful information about their products.  We were also pleased to have a representative from the Optometry Giving Sight charity who discussed the importance of the charity.

The feedback from the event was excellent and everyone picked up large amounts of useful information that can be taken back to their practice to help them significantly improve their practice income.
