Building your Practice

The Optic 2000 club

What does membershp involve?

The Optic2000 Club was formed in 1996 and is open to optometrists, opticians and businesspeople who own or manage an optician's practice in the UK.

The aim of the Optic2000 Club is to help you increase your sales and profits by identifying your strengths and weaknesses and then implementing the changes required. Members typically find that their sales increase by 10% when they join the Optic2000 Club but many members have achieved significantly more.

Members of the Optic2000 Club answer some simple questions about their practice on a pre-populated questionnaire and forward it to Myers La Roche. In return they receive a confidential report about Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) at their practice. Each report contains personalised information that has been processed by the Optic2000 Club computer and shows how members' practices perform as the market changes and, if appropriate, advice and suggestions about improving their firm.

Most members find that they can increase turnover and / or reduce overheads once they really understand their comparative position. Profit increases of thousands of pounds per annum are typical, if members follow the recommendations given in their bespoke report. Of course, many members already own extremely successful businesses and their membership allows them to take more time away from their practice whilst maintaining their income stream!

How does Myers La Roche ensure confidentiality?

We take members' confidentiality very seriously. Since 1985, practitioners have been discussing their financial and personal affairs with our consultants. We are an AOP Partner firm and we are signatories to the Consultants Code of Professional Conduct. We are also registered under the Data Protection Act 1998.

When you contact us by telephone we may need to take certain steps to ensure your security and your telephone call may be recorded. However, these measures will not violate your statutory rights.

Why is it important to understand what is happening in the market?

The current Optics Market is extremely tough. Patient visits are running at maximum yet the capacity for eye examinations is ever increasing. These market conditions present an opportunity for professionals who are prepared to adapt.

Many Optic2000 Club members are often surprised by how low their prices really are, how hard they work or how many staff they should employ. Once they quantify their situation, they are able to make decisions based on facts not hunches.

However, an important part of the Optic2000 Club is free telephone support. Once you have received your report, just telephone your designated consultant who will talk you through your situation and recommend areas for improvement. You can telephone as often as you like.

If you need more than telephone support, we provide a wide range of services which are designed to equip you for today's market. For more information, refer to the Association of Optometrists Members Handbook or Contact Us

What information is needed?

You only need to answer a few simple questions to complete the Optic2000 Club Questionnaire. Most professional practices already record this information. At the majority of practices, members ask one of their receptionists to complete the questionnaire. You don't even need a computer system in the practice!

You can choose to complete an Optic2000 Club Questionnaire online or we can post you a 12 month supply. Some practice management computer systems, such as Optix, Relcon and Ocuco, can be configured to automatically send your Optic2000 Club data direct to us via a secure email link. Please ask your system provider for details or contact us.

The cost of Membership to the Optic 2000 club is £12.50 + VAT per month. Membership comes with free telephone support from a designated consultant about any issue of practice management.
